Pre® is Non-GMO Project Verified

Here’s the what, why, when, where and how. Pre packaging beef rotating through different grocery packaging with the Non-GMO Project Verified logo

Pre’s  full line of grass fed and finished beef is Non-GMO Project Verified.

Achieving this status, however, is the culmination of much more than a fancy new claim. The butterfly is indeed fancy, but in addition, it’s a manifestation of our values and additional assurance to consumers that Pre is best-tasting, highest quality beef in the world, that you can also feel good about choosing from health, safety and social perspectives.

Non-GMO Project Verified is new, but Pre products haven’t changed one bit. In fact, they haven’t changed since Pre laid out strict sourcing and selection criteria when Pre began in 2015. All Pre beef is grass fed and finished, sourced from nutrient-rich pastures and raised with care, with no added antibiotics and no added hormones. Now Non-GMO Project Verified, there’s even more reason to trust and feel confident about Pre beef.

But what do genetically modified organisms have to do with meat?

Meat itself is not genetically modified, and GMOs aren't directly added to it. For meat, poultry, dairy and eggs, the non-GMO claim means animals were not fed a diet containing genetically engineered crops. Because Pre cattle are grass fed and finished, they never consume grain. Grain feed may have nutritional implications many health-conscious consumers are avoiding. Grain may also contain corn or soybeans, both of which have genetically modified varieties.

Summed up by Patricia Willmot, Pre’s Chief Operating Officer, “Non-GMO Project Verification means consumers can feel 100% confident that Pre beef never encountered genetically modified feed or GMOs anywhere along the process. It's a third-party certification of a quality our products have always had, alongside other rigorous specifications that result in the most consistent, best-tasting, highest quality beef in the world.” Pre is proud to be Non-GMO Project Verified
