Steak Skewers Grilled with Garlic Ginger Marinade

Perfect for making ahead, these tasty skewers can be made up to 3 days in advance and cooked up in a snap! Remember to soak your skewers before cooking. Feel free to add vegetables to the skewers, like bell peppers, red onions, mushrooms, and large cherry tomatoes. You can use the same marinade, just double the recipe and use separate bags and skewers to keep the raw meat separated from the non-meat items. Once everything is cooked you can toss it all together on the same serving platter.

ACTIVE: 20 min. PASSIVE: 1 hr. DIFFICULTY Easy

Ingredients:

  • 1 package Pre Petite Sirloin steak
  • 1/3 C low sodium soy sauce
  • 3 cloves af garlic, mashed
  • 1 T freshly grated ginger
  • 1 T sesame oil
  • 2 T cooking oil
  • 1/4 C brown sugar
  • 1 T fish sauce
Equipment:
  1. Remove the steaks from package and blot dry with paper towel.
  2. Mix the remaining ingredients in a jar with a tight fitting lid and shake vigorously until well combined.
  3. Slice steak into thin strips, about 1/4 inch wide so they will skewers easily.
  4. Tenderizing the steak helps the marinade absorb more quickly, so this dish only needs 1 hour to bring full flavor to your steak skewers.
  5. Place meat in a ziplock bag and add the marinade. Toss to coat and put in refrigerator for 1 hour, turning the bag every 15 to 20 minutes.
  6. Place steak skewers in a dish large enough so they are submerged, and cover with water. Let sit while the meat marinates.
  7. Remove meat from marinade, discarding the marinade and blot on a paper towel. Skewer the meat leaving about 2 inches on the top and bottom of the skewer, place on a plate or baking tray.
  8. Heat your camp stove or campfire to medium high. Cook steak skewers, turning every 1 1/2 to 2 minutes, until slightly charred. The steak skewers can be cooked in advance and warmed in a pan on your camp stove or over your campfire. They travel very well.
