BBQ Bacon Burger
For a healthier version, wrap this beauty in swiss chard leaves.
Ingredients
- 1 lb. PRE 85% Lean Ground Beef
- 1 cup Tessemae’s BBQ sauce
- ½ teaspoon salt
- 6 strips sugar-free bacon
- 2 tablespoons maple syrup
- ½ teaspoon fresh cracked black pepper
- 1 tablespoon tallow (beef, pork, or duck)
- 1 medium yellow onion, sliced thin
- 1 pint oyster mushrooms, sliced thin
- 3 large swiss chard leaves OR 3 paleo hamburger buns
Instructions
- Preheat a cast iron skillet over medium high heat. Preheat the oven to 400°.
- In a large bowl, combine beef, ½ of the BBQ sauce, salt, and pepper until well combined. Form into 3 patties of desired thickness. These will shrink a bit while cooking.
- Place bacon in a single layer on parchment lined baking sheet. Drizzle with maple syrup and black pepper. Bake for 10 minutes, or until crisp. Set aside.
- Melt tallow in cast iron, and sauté onions and mushrooms until soft and caramelized. Add a pinch of salt and set aside.
- Place burger patties in the same pan on medium heat and sear on both sides until desired doneness.
- Top burger with more BBQ sauce, onions, mushrooms, bacon, and bun of choice. Enjoy!
