About us
You can choose Pre based on what you see on our package – or what’s inside it. We have one ingredient: 100% grass fed & finished beef, that is full of flavor, and not antibiotics. We believe in treating animals with respect and all our farmers follow the internationally accepted
5 freedoms for all animals. All Pre beef is cut and trimmed by hand in Chicago.
Pre was founded to set the taste clock back to a time before industrialization, and we would like to keep the quality right there, too. We only need 3 letters to describe our beef: P-R-E, as in pre-industrial food. We provide the best-tasting 100% grass fed & finished beef in Michigan – or your money back. No feedlots, no added hormones, no unnecessary antibiotics, and no corn-fed cattle. These things make us different, we’re okay with that. Because we meticulously, relentlessly and uncompromisingly created Pre® for one person. You.
Why 100% Grass Fed & Finished Matters
All cattle begin their lives on pastures along with their mother. They forage for lush, nutrient-dense grasses. The problem is, they can be moved and confined to feedlots and then fed grains or grain by-products for the last few months of their lives. This is an unnatural diet and an unacceptable, inhumane practice. This “fattens” them up quickly. We say “grass fed & finished,” on our package because all the cattle are “finished” on pasture naturally and never in a feedlot.
Why We Practice High Quality Sourcing Methods
Grass feeding and finishing allows for regenerative farming and a natural ecosystem to develop that supports rotational grazing. So, the quality, taste, & environmental impact of pasture raised beef is directly impacted by the entire lifespan of the animal and its holistic treatment. That is why our grass fed beef in Michigan is so great!
Why We Prefer Pasture Raised Beef
Pasture raising cattle results in lean, healthy meat. Pure and simple (you can tell from the nutrition facts). It doesn’t require any added growth hormones or antibiotics. When you compare Pre’s grass-fed & finished beef to the conventional grain-fed beef at the butcher, it is not only the more humane choice, but it results in lower fat & calories, and in high vitamin content and high Omega-3s.
